3 Reasons Why Medical Waste is Prohibited in Residential Areas

1 16
Medical waste includes biohazardous, infectious, and non-contaminated waste. Healthcare centers need to dispose of their waste frequently to keep the facilities clean and infection-free. However, they need to be vigilant about where they dispose of their waste.

Residential areas are some of the places where medical waste should never be disposed of for the following reasons:

●    Spreading Infections

The infectious medical waste from health facilities can spread infections amongst the public. The waste should therefore be kept away from the public. It should not be disposed of in areas where the public can access or come into contact with it. It will be impossible to contain and reduce the spread of infections if we leave vectors lying carelessly in residential areas.

●    Hurting the Public

In medical waste, you will find sharp objects such as needles and scalpels. These objects can hurt the public by pricking or cutting into their skin. Little children can also swallow the objects leading to serious health problems or death. Therefore, it is brutal and insensitive to dispose of medical waste in residential areas and hazardous.

●    Creating a Mucky Environment

Medical waste includes blood and other body discharges that are filthy to look at. When dumped in residential areas, they create a mucky and disgusting environment. They turn the area into a filthy place where you will not love to be.

Final Thoughts

Everyone in public is aware of medical waste. However, no one wants to come across it every time they step outside their houses. This is because it is ugly to look at and unsafe to touch.
